Portsmouth Mens 2nd team travelled to Salisbury still bouyant from last week's result, and keen to make it two wins in a row. The match started at a good tempo with both sides having spells on the ball, but it was Portsmouth who had the better of it. Solid defensive work limited Salisbury to only brief moments near the Portsmouth goal, and at the other end Portsmouth were beginning to create chances and win short corners. It wasn't long afterwards that Portsmouth were 1-0 up, good work down the right side ended with a clinical through ball from Ben Lawford to Dan Brettell at the top of the D. A trademark reverse shot followed, and the ball was in the back of the goal. Portsmouth didn't really allow Salisbury much time on the ball in the remainder of the 1st half, and the pressure paid off with a goal from a short corner, a wayward injection slipped back to the top of the D, and Alex Williams finished over the logging keeper. The 2nd half started much like the 1st half ended, Portsmouth pressure paying off with another goal from a short corner, this time slipped right to Freddie Steel who finished coolly into the bottom corner. Portsmouth then successfully weathered a period of pressure including being down to 10 men. When parity was restored, Portsmouth resumed the attack and scored their 4th at another short corner, this time slipped right to Adam Nicholls who slapped the ball firmly past the keeper and into the bottom corner. Salisbury didn't give up, and continued to push forward until the end of the game, but Portsmouth's defence stayed strong and secured another clean sheet. Man of the match was Ben Hayward, for excellent work down the right hand side.
