Portsmouth started strong against a remarkably tricky Witney side, defending resolutely and holding them to just a single goal in a competitive opening quarter.

However, Witney’s relentless attack steadily ramped up the pressure as the match progressed, carving through the defence to add two more goals before the half-time whistle.

The third quarter proved especially difficult for the Portsmouth first team, as Witney seized total control of the momentum and capitalised on every error to slot in four unanswered goals. Refusing to drop their heads, Portsmouth pushed forward aggressively in the final period to try to bridge the deficit, but their high line left them exposed on the break allowing Witney to strike twice more to seal a tough 9-0 defeat.
