Hamble after an initial period of pressure were soon stemmed back by a strong Portsmouth side attacking down the wings with great interplay and then into the D some of this play was a joy to watch (especially from the other side of the fence!!).

30 minutes into the first half and after to say the least a few interesting umpiring decisions, the umpire took exception to Jacs K commenting (not to the Umpire) “this is becoming a joke,” even though the Hamble coach had agreed there were some baffling decisions being made in their favour. However Jacs K was asked to permanently leave the pitch (no card issued) and as captain K Juckes was given a green.

More sustained pressure from Portsmouth resulted in Lois Haigh scoring a goal which was disallowed as advantage was not being played. 16 Minutes into the second half Portsmouth broke the deadlock with a penalty corner, pelted across the D and in on a deflection awarding Portsmouth the goal.

Portsmouth had wave after wave of attack which Hamble somehow successfully defended. In the 37th minute Hamble were awarded a Penalty Corner and Portsmouth saw another green card being shown to E Crowcroft. Hamble struck from the top of the day and GK H Bennet got down to it with her stick which somehow the ball spun off and into the back of the net. 

The game already in Fergie Time continued for another minute or so and ended as a draw.

Overall, a disappointing result after such a dominant display by Portsmouth II Ladies.

MOM went to Miranda Cooper for her Stalwart work both in defence and assisting with the attack on the right-hand side of the pitch. (Other nominations were for Christina Nelson, Hayley Chivers and Lois Haigh. There was only one nomination for DOD and that was for me the author of the report.
