In Mooro ’s head (Cue dreaming harp music)………
Phinn Lambe made some awesome saves, we were 3-1 down at half time. Goals from Alex Williams and Oakley Farmer brought us back to 3-3.
Five minutes to go, Nathan Moore shouts to Xander “slow it down “ to which Jamie Mooro angrily responds “no speed it up, this is our time!”
Final Whistle goes 3-3 snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat. Mooro leaves the pitch feeling disappointed as everyone had worked so hard and he thought we deserved more.
What actually happened….
Portsmouth, with a slightly different cohort (due to University open days) and only one sub (hope your boy is ok, Callum), knew this was going to be a tough game. And so it was Fareham scored first…and second.
Portsmouth had a few attacks winning several short corners one of which was dispatched by Alex Williams 2-1. Five minutes later with some fantastic work down the right hand side Tom Love made his way to the base line and fired a ball into George Gale whose deft touch fell to Mooro, who placed the ball in the corner past the stranded Goalkeeper.
Five minutes after that Fareham scored again, from an arguably contentious PS award 3-2 down at Half time.
Then, at half time, through the mist our knight in shining armour arrived, Callum’s Son was “all good” and he immediately took to the pitch and his aura seemed to lift the team! Now Portsmouth played with much more freedom, buoyant from Callum’s addition which seemed to ease the pressure the youngsters were feeling particularly in midfield, Portsmouth dominated the play, and we scored, nicely despatched by George Gale, not as good as his last goal but they all count!
3-3
Now, was this before or after he took a tumble? I hear you ask. Well if you ask Molly I’m sure she can check the time stamp on the text message she received from Gale’s watch informing her, as his next of kin, that he’d had an accident! Also alerting the Emergency services!
Portsmouth kept banging on the door with PC’s a plenty and a few variations. One such variation saw the ball come to the right of the D to the waiting Oakley Farmer to beat the keeper and the defender at the near post 4-3.
More squandered PC’s and a disallowed goal from 3’s season debutant Liam Sumner meant the match finished with us as 4-3 winners, snatched a *WIN* from the jaws of defeat!
Mooro was disappointed until at least 6 minutes later when the final score was revealed.
It not like they have a digital scoreboard at Fareham or anything
MoM - Phinn for Quote from Skipper “The best game I’ve seen you play in “ hard to disagree with, as much as we all hated voting for him.
DoD….you’ve guessed it…..
A tremendous performance from the family, we’ve proved we can win from in front and also from behind.
