The game started of at pace with a team made up of a mixture of Pompey and Basingstoke players (a big thank you to them for the help) with great pressure from both sides. Portsmouth broke the deadlock with Mattty opening the scoring, and this was followed up with goals from Harry and 2 from Dylan. The best of the goals finished from a fantastic cross from Louie after a great leading run down the right.
Portsmouth passed the ball and kept it very simple creating a number of chances. The Basingstoke keeper made a number of saves with Arthur & Adam very unlucky not to score.
After the break Basingstoke managed to pull back 2 goals to reduce the deficit, before Harry nipped in at the near post to make it 5 for Portsmouth.
Final score 5-2 to Portsmouth, however due to Basingstoke having to loan players the match points were awarded to them.
Big thanks to every Basingstoke outfield player that took turns to wear purple today, they were excellent in their attitude and effort against their own club.
Man of the match Rufus for some excellent saves just ahead of Harry playing out of position in midfield.
