10 man Portsmouth's U16 boys beat Basingstoke U16 3-0 with the a performance to be very proud of. On a slippery pitch the team accuracy of passing was vital and through the 1st half Portsmouth got better and better. Ryan Rochester came closest early on hitting the post after a great move from Tristan Barnes & Sam Hargreaves. In a similar piece of play Sam Parry faked to pass right and instead went left to Dan Hayward at the top of the D who rounded 2 defenders before slotting past the keeper. Early in the 2nd half Jack Boswell picked up a defensive clearance, played a neat bounce pass and doubled the lead. Basingstoke built a little pressure through the half but still could not score past Jack Hargreaves in goal on his birthday with able support in defence from Jack Burn and 2 solid clearances from Josh Boucher. Portsmouth played the last 5 minutes with 9 players after Rudi Lambert who’d ably patrolled the left defensive channel got a cut above the eye from a glancing opposition stick. Portsmouth still attacked with 9 players through the angled passing down the left side of the pitch resulting in Ryan Rochester firing into the near post with the last play of the game.
