New Players

Interested in joining us? Great! We're always on the lookout for new players, whatever your age, ability or experience.

The best way to get involved, is simply to turn up to one of our training sessions, and see how you get on. This will give us a chance to assess your current abilities, and direct you towards the best session / team for you.

Our training sessions can be found described in detail by clicking here.

For senior players, we normally advise turning up in the first instance to club training on a Thursday at Portsmouth Grammar School Playing Fields (PO2 9RP). We can then assess your abilities and advise if you would be better suited to attending the 1s/2s training. The first session is free, so just turn up and be ready to start at 18:30.

Before attending senior training, we'd recommend contacting either Chris Wimshurst (Mens), or Emily Crowcroft (Womens), so that we can keep an eye out for you, and they can answer any questions you might have.

For Juniors, U-14 training is held on a Saturday at Admiral Lord Nelson School (PO3 5XT) from 09.00-10.30. For those aged U-18, please contact Pete Hayward, who can advise on the best session to attend based upon your current experience and ability.

For those preferring a slower pace, we also offer walking hockey on a Thursday evening at Portsmouth Grammar School Playing Fields (18:30-20:00). These are relaxed informal sessions, suitable for all. Note: there is a charge of £3 per player, or £5 per family for walking hockey.

For matches, we offer junior matches on Sundays from U8s through to U18s. We also offer senior hockey on Saturdays, with 5 Women's teams and 6 Men's teams (including a veterans team). Following senior games we hold post match teas at Broad Oak Social Club (PO3 5PB).
