The Vets looked resplendent in their new purple shirts - thanks to Dave Sims (who we'd like to see in the Vets) and South Coast Refrigeration Services - away to Bournemouth and earned a very respectable 1 - 1 draw. As Bournemouth are usually strong through the middle of the park co-captains Mark Wilson & Tim Schofield elected to put five players in midfield and it was the central trio of Tim, Man of the Match Adam Harley and Karl Young who controlled the pace of the game and encouraged a fluent, passing game. Midway through the first half Tim drove down the right wing and set up John Pratt to apply his trademark finish from 6 inches.
In the second half Bournemouth pushed forward and deservedly equalised. In the last ten minutes Bournemouth had the better chances but keeper Chris Lawrence was in good form and made some terrific saves to ensure we held on for the draw.
