Ball Pace - Check , Reverse Stick goals - Check, Hard running - Check , and using up energy in the break - Check

Todays U10’s Festival was a great event at Haslemere where we fielded 2 u10 teams. Bozzer’s Bashers and Cheshire’s Choppers.

*** Cheshire Choppers ***
The focus for the day from the coaches was for ball pace and movement out of the contact area , rather than the results. However the Choppers ended up with 4 wins and 2 narrow defeats, and more importantly a great performance. Overall the ball pace was high and accurate, you could really see them working hard to move the ball out of the contact zone. In addition , the reverse stick hitting and passing that we have been working on really came to the fore, with many players performing the skill in both passes and a few goals.
Woody “Andrei Kanchelskis” Mein playing on the right side of midfield, flying and slaloming down the wing with pace and skill, beating player after player and providing crosses into the danger areas. Scored many a goal and came around with a high number of assist that KDB would be proud off.
Jack “Gary Lineker” Pibworth was goal poacher extreme. His intelligent positioning, stretching the game to provide space for his midfield and picking up a few well deserved goals provided real danger. Just loves to score, which is great to see.
Daniel “Gary McCallister” Whitcher working predominantly on the left side of midfield provided a real presence, calmness and a great range of passing in his first tournament, one exceptional 50 yard hit pass was a peach. Also picked up the Choppers Coaches player of the tournament for his clever positional play, some excellent reverse stick stops, and again his range of passing.
Daniel “Roy Keane” Sinnott put in a cue-de-gras and complete midfield performance, dominating the centre and working up and down the pitch. Tackling, hard passing , hard powerful running through the centre, he had it all, as well as a few goals to boot.
Harry “Steve Bruce“ Cheshire , the general in defence. A rock at the back and seemed be in the centre of danger when ever it occurred. Hearing him bark orders to his team and defence partnerships shows his intelligence, confidence in himself and discipline. One day he will score a goal, but for now his desire is simply to stop the opposition.
Ellie-Mai “Rio Ferdinand” Rowlands was her usual silky smooth self and calmness personified in defence. Never flustered and put in some exceptionally timed tackles, she was the playmaker at the back, passing well and stopping dangerous situations in their track. Lovely smooth skills and driving into space showing that she is picking up key aspects of the training.
Tilly “Des Walker“ Wimshurst , a Ronaldinho beaming smile with a mean tackle was a defensive stalwart. Calm and never flustered, worked hard and was a terrier around far bigger opposition players. When called over to discuss certain things, just smiled, nodded and went back on and did her job. A coaches delight.
Luke “David Batty” Hellyer joined the team for the last game from the U8 festival and just got stuck in. Tackling hard and passing with high ball paced, adjusted well to the quicker game and bigger opponents. Just seems happy hitting the ball hard, tackling and trying new skills and tricks.
Next festival for u8 and u10 is City’s own, and will be on 18th November which hopefully will continue the high playing standard to date and which I am sure Copey will be making an appearance.

*** Bozzers Bashers ***
Fantastic effort from both Under 10’s teams today at the Haslemere Festival.
The Boswell Bashers were all excellent, winning 3, drawing 2 and losing just the 1 game.
Player of festival for the Bashers was Ellis who stepped up to the Under 10’s and was a rock in defence. Also great performances from Charlie (1 goal, 3d skills and vision), Eddie (solid and strong), Daisy (4 goals and great running), Finley (got really stuck in), Cleo (some superb last ditch tackles) and Amelia (great goal and work rate). Thanks also to Ryan who stepped up from the Under 8’s for the last 2 games and did really well.
Very proud of the team...listened to the coaching points and got their rewards
