Looking Green Around the Gill(Ingham)s

The 3s made the long and bumpy trip to a long and bumpy Gillingham pitch, with enough speed bumps on it to make Stoney even slower than he always has been.

With DJ fired up, the 3s started well. Unfortunately Gillingham opened the scoring off a short corner. This was a catalyst for the 3s, who became rigid in defence and hard to beat. Unfortunately shortly after Phinn Lambe marked his debut by breaking his collar bone ten minutes into the game after colliding with an opposition player.

We wish him well and hope the car home with a goal scoring Stoney wasn't too traumatic.

Speaking of Stoney, he brought us level, volleying home a bouncing ball after the opposition all decided to mark Gale.

I should also mention the stunning cameo of Nick, who lasted about as long as Phinn, before pulling up injured and leaving us with a bare eleven.

The team talk was positive for once, but we knew it would be difficult with no subs to call upon. The 3s toiled and toiled with no end product .

Portsmouth found themselves 3-1 down. I've been reliably informed both goals were gorgeous finishes by our centre backs, feet like prime Beckham the pair of them.

Portsmouth made the score 3-2 when Stoney stole a short corner off the mid flow Alex Williams, struck it and after several deflections that I believe included 3 opposition players and a piece of Phinns collarbone he had left laying about, found the goal.

Unfortunately, it was too little too late and the game finished 3-2.
