Pumas v Basingstoke 7

Pumas had a change of formation & some players (welcome to the club Joe Simmonds) we started with high tempo which enabled goal machine Peter W to be found in the D who scored within a minute! The Pumas started to pass the ball well around the back 3 with even Jabba trying to pass shorter balls! The youngsters Casper, Dan, Louie and Alberto all being involved before Sammy slipped the ball to Bryan who played in Pete for his second. Louie had a great chance to make it three & a bit more composure would of seen his shot go in, Bryan had another chance before Pete got his 3rd so a hat-trick by half time! 3-0 at halftime.

The second half saw Basingstoke up their game & utilise their own youngsters, with the pumas now not playing the smart hockey they were we gave a short corner away, which Basingstoke upgraded to a flick via Ellis's boot & Jabbas hand; this was almost saved by an impressive Ellis who couldn't quite keep it out to make it 3-1. The game became scrappy with the Pumas labouring to play their expansive game from the 1st half, Pete eventually took advantage of a defensive mistake & with the Basingstoke defence waiting for the whistle Pete carried on to score his 4th.
Again Bryan, Louie & Alberto could have scored in the 2nd half but the final score remained 4-1.

An impressive debut by Joe & another solid performance by Jamie Fowler gave the Pumas the platform for the youngsters to up their game, good saves by Ellis in goal along with improved performances by Dan W, Casper, Finley all bodes well for us in the future.
